Model Drawings
To assist members with customer presentations we are providing below a series of MS/Word pages with CAD generated 3d line drawings of popular pallet designs that can be downloaded. What may be second nature to a pallet manufacturer is sometimes difficult for a customer to picture. For example the term 'bearer' in Britain is sometimes called a 'runner', in North America it is called a 'stringer' and it is a 'chevron' in France.
Stillage
The illustration shown of a stillage is an example of how understanding of a subject can be greatly helped by an illustration. A stillage is not a pallet because it does not satisfy the essential rules for materials handling defined in ISO 6780. For example it cannot be lifted by a pedestrian truck made to ISO 509 (it is too high), it cannot be stacked safely because of its lack of adequate (minimum 35%) bottom deck area and finally it is not an ISO 6780 authorised plan size, so it will not make the best use of shipping space in a freight container. Non-standard materials handling platforms such as the stillage, stevedore pallet and skid pallet we class as export packing items and we cover these in our page CONTAINERS/EXPORT CASES.
It is essential that buyers and users across the world understand what is being discussed and EN and ISO help with their series of International pallet and packaging terminology standards. These are listed in our PUBLISHED STANDARDS page. One of the best guides we have found published for identifying every individual part of a pallet was the 12 language pallet terminology document including Japanese and Korean which was published by Dr George Stern of the Pallet Laboratory of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI) of the USA.
The downloads below enable you to change overall drawing size, type in your company name and add component sizes, there is no restriction as to usage and we do not require credit given to PalletLink if you send them to customers. However, if you use them on your website then we request that you give a credit to PalletLink.
